Metro Rock Boston, MA

Nationals were packed this year with over 400 competitors. The walls were mostly flat vertical and slabby, with very technical routes.

Cicada Jenerik once again dominated the Female Youth D category, onsighting all of her routes to become the National Champion and a US Team Member for the second straight year. She also made the US Team for speed. Simon Benkert didn't climb up to his usual brutal strength, but even with a poor showing he was strong enough to make the US Team in the Male Youth B Division. Simon will be traveling to Beijing, China for the World Youth Championships held August 25-28. Sera Moon Busse had a great showing for her first Nationals. She took Twelfth and just missed making finals in the Female Youth D. Liane Fang had a disappointing weekend in the Female Youth A. She blew a move on her second qualifier and just missed moving on to Semi-Finals. Not quite what we were expecting from the Division 1 Champion. She showed great sportspersonship in that though she was disappointed she kept a smile on her face.

Nick Gerrard in the Male Junior division was primed for the comp and then unfortunately fell off his bike a week before the comp and broke his thumb. Though he couldn't climb, he traveled to Boston with us to cheer on his team.
